POSITION SUMMARY

Bennington Rescue is in search of a Full Time Patient Account Representative that will provide exceptional customer service and duties to support our general office operations. This entry level position will provide customer service, medical billing, data entry, office operations, account reconciliation in addition to general office duties.
 

POSITION INFORMATION:

  • Position: Patient Account Representative

  • Status: Full Time - Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible) (1.0 FTE - 40 Hours per Week)

  • Shift: Primarily weekdays during normal business hours, however days and shifts may vary based on operational needs and infrequent weekends may be needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Ability to communicate (read, write, speak) effectively

    Experience in customer service, medical coding/billing, or a medical office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years’ experience in medical billing/coding

  • 2+ years’ experience in a medical office/billing office

  • 2+ years’ experience in customer service

  • Certification in medical billing/coding

  • Associate Degree/Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • Ability to obtain Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) within 6 months of employment (all costs covered by Bennington Rescue)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provides excellent customer service for patients, patient representatives, vendors, suppliers, and the general public.

  • Acts as a liaison between the customer and Bennington Rescue.

  • Is a customer advocate in all business relationships.

  • Enters the appropriate data pertaining to patient care reports and ambulance runs into Billing and related software for processing.

  • Ensures that accurate and complete patient bills are created from ePCR reports.

  • Assists in maintaining ambulance billing and collections.

  • Proof reads ambulance call sheets for completeness and returns to crews for needed corrections.

  • Ensures that patients are accurately charged for the services rendered.

  • Preparation of claims/bills based on payor requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, Private, etc.)

  • Reports problematic claims or activities that are not progressing as designed.

  • Ensures privacy of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

  • Maintains and follows all Bennington Rescue policies and procedures.

  • Willingly participates in continuing education and other appropriate activities to maintain professional competence.

  • Attends meetings and performs tasks, special projects and/or duties as assigned.

  • Assists with diagnostic and procedural coding as needed.

  • Performs a wide variety of clerical skills as assigned by management.

  • Helps to maintain the morale and professional attitude of the squad.

  • Other duties as assigned.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

Administration Interview    

Candidate will be interviewed by the Bennington Rescue leadership team. 

Meet and Greet    

The candidate will have time to meet and greet crew. Crews will also take candidates on a tour of the building during this time. 

Note: This session will take place without the leadership team to allow staff the chance to interact with candidates as they wish. All participants will be briefed on the types of questions that they may and may not ask to comply with Human Resource laws and regulations. If a candidate feels that any question or conversation is not appropriate, they are asked to inform a member of the leadership team immediately.
