The Town of Bennington Rescue Squad, Inc. has been serving the greater Bennington area since 1963 and offers a full range of Emergency Medical Services. We are organized as a 501(c)3 non-profit charity and provide Paramedic 911 services to the Towns of Bennington, Old Bennington, North Bennington, Woodford, South Shaftsbury and Shaftsbury. We are staffed by career and paid on-call EMTs and Paramedics. In addition to 911 services we also provide Paramedic Intercepts to other rescue squads and ambulance services in addition to emergency and non-emergency Advanced and Basic Life Support interfacility transports. Bennington Rescue is the first full time Paramedic service in the Bennington area and the only service in the area that provides Paramedic Advanced Life Support Intercept to all services that transport to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Our services are provided without regard to ability to pay.
The squad is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors from all the communities we serve in addition to some members of the squad. If you think you might be interested in serving on our Board please contact us.
You can find the Squad's Headquarters in the shadow of the Bennington Battle Monument on 120 McKinley Street, in Bennington Vermont 05201. We are one of the few squads in left in Vermont that are self supporting and do not rely on subsidies or tax dollars from the towns we serve. We are primarily funded by donations, fees for service, and trusts left to us by generous patients and citizens.
We contract 911 and non-emergency dispatch services from the Town of Bennington Police Department. Requests for service can be made by calling our non-emergency phone number (802)442-5817 or 442-1030. If you have any comments or questions you can e-mail us at bennresq@comcast.net or calling 442-5817.
